140,150,152 extended seat rails?
Technical and practical discussion about specific aircraft types such as Cessna 180, Maule M7, et al. Please read and search carefully before posting, as many popular topics have already been discussed.

Our mechanic is learning to fly and, as usual, dreams of owning his own airplane. He is from Ft. Worth and has kids in Houston so he thinks he can own his own airplane cheaper than driving or flying Southwest. Who am I to argue.
Here is one problem, he is a bit over 6' tall and can't fit in a 150 and get full aileron movement. Is there anything along the lines of an extended seat rail STC for the little Cessnas? Or any other ideas other than removing the seat cushions?
Thanks,

the later 150s have more leg room a friend of mine has one and he is well over 6ft im not sure when they changed, his is a 68. he does not fit in a a or b model or my old 120 verry well. 120 and 140s dont have seat rails you can only move the seat back 2 or 3 inches
If he really want to use it for travel I would suggest a 172 or a cherokee they are afordable and have room for tall pilots plus a pasinger and luggage.

tricycles are for little girls
I'm 6'1" and the 152 I did all my Private training in allowed plenty of leg clearance. Perhaps your buddy is mostly leg with a short torso? That might push his knees higher. I'm proportioned like the Vitruvian Man, so there.

Sorry to hear that Z, the picture of the Vitruvian Man always seemed undersized in a certain area....

lol, he is long legged. From what he said he can get in a 150 but his legs are bent to the point of interfering with the control wheel. He ended up flying 19 hours in a 172 last summer, even soloed.
I will suggest he try out a later 150 or 152 before giving up on them.

I'm 6'-3" with long legs, and soloed in a late model (1982) 152. I fit, but barely. Ended up like your buddy switching to 172's, about half way through my PPL after enduring too many leg cramps.
