177 crash near Hanksville, UT.

Just saw in the daily FAA accident reports a 177 crashed near Hanksville, UT yesterday. Plane was from Springville, UT. Can't find any imfo on the crash. Wondering if he tried one of the backcountry strips. Hidden Splendor?

Re: 177 crash near Hanksville, UT.

Looks like the crash was actually on May 8, but I couldn't find anything more than that either.

FAA report lists damage as "destroyed," but thankfully injuries to the 2 on board only listed as minor.

Any of the Cardinals I've heard about... screwing around in most of the back country Utah strips you guys talk about... sounds like an application for the Darwin Awards to me. Glad to hear nobody got hurt too bad.

Re: 177 crash near Hanksville, UT.

The plane is out of Spanish Fork, Utah- U77. I know the owners well, and the pilots who were flying i recognize but don't knowl. I have no technical information, but apparently it lost power while on a cross country training flight and went down. Both people are ok, and hiked out 2.5 miles before finding some campers who drove them 50 miles to green river, Ut. When I find out more about what happened, I'll post here.
