180 hp C-170 Rudder Question

Has anyone else out there experienced a lack of right rudder during take off in a 170 with a 180 hp / CS prop. I have had the problem when taking off from wet grass, and or with maybe 10K or more of left cross wind.

I do have a recently overhauled, flow matched and balanced engine, the longer 80" prop with the governor tweaked to 2730. Oh yes, 26" ABWs.

It is better to be late in this world, than early in the next.

Seems lkk,e it'd be alright if you ease the power in, not slam it in. Not hit full throttle until you have some airflowe over the rudder for some control authority.
I saw a video of (I think) a Skyraider doing a boltered carrier landing, pilot cobbed in full power and torque-rolled right over into the ocean next to the carrier. Don't let that happen to you, wanabe!

No, I have not experienced that issue. My airplane is configured almost precisely as yours.

I always try to put a crosswind on the right, if at all possible.

Yup

If I cobb all the power in at once, sometimes it takes a tap of the right brake until I get airflow over the tail.

BTW, when are you going to visit the strip?
