182 big tire upgrade

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

182 big tire upgrade

Just swapped out my old 8.50x6 mains and 8.00 nose for some 8.50x10 mains and 8.50x6 nose. I couldn't find much info on the inter webs about the 8.50x10 on the 182 but it all seamed to work out just fine so far. Also did the double puck upgrade. Alaskan airframes was a big help, and set me strait.

Re: 182 big tire upgrade

Yeah, but you have a lot more options available now. I wish I had those tires when I owned a 182, it would have reduced the pucker factor a lot, plus they look super cool!

Re: 182 big tire upgrade

Bad ass! Now maybe when we fly together all that drag will slow you down closer to 170 speeds so you don't have to throttle back so much. We need to go flying when I get back from this trip!

Looks like Airtracs?
Curious as to the price difference between 850x10 Airtracs vs 29" Airhawks or GY's?
Airtrac price sure is attractive.

I like it, I need to step up my tire game. Do keep us posted, curious to see what the speed change will be.

Re: 182 big tire upgrade

That is the same configuration that I had with my 182. That along with extended baggage, firewall battery and STOL kit, make it a great back country airplane.

Re: 182 big tire upgrade

I don't know, maybe it is just me, but those 182's just seem to be missing something. Nice looking birds and all, but ...

They really need to have something on the tail, maybe a set of these Image You can buy them here https://bullsballs.com/

Nose dragger guys don't have to go to the store to get bigger balls. Their packing all the time anyway.
