182 though 182D CHT probe location

What cylinder does it go on? I can't find anything in the TCDS or the service manual that says where the CHT probe should be on the early 182s, specifically the 182 through the 182D.

Any ideas??? Looking for a reference to a Cessna or TCM manual.

I have learned that on the 57-58 182B the CHT gauge was "optional".

Re: 182 though 182D CHT probe location

FWIW note 4 on the Cessna 180 TCDS sez CHT probe goes on
cylinder #2 through s/n 18051445 (1964),
#1 on s/n 18051446 > 18052500 (1965 - 1974),
and #3 on s/n 18052501 and up.

It's also worth pointing out that note 1 in the O-470 TCDS
specifies different redlines when using sparkplug gasket type probes (525)
vs bayonet probes (460).

Yep, but I know that. I'm looking for 182 info.

Kinda standard internet information...."well, it's not the airplane you're asking about, but...."

The correct question to be asking is what are the recommendations for a 6 cyl engine analyzer.

So you don't know which cylinder the single probe CHT would go on from the factory?

I'm a huge fan of modern engine monitors. I've installed plenty of them. That's not the problem I'm facing.

I am seeking an STC to aid in engine cooling. The FAA assumes any STC is going on a bone stock airplane. I need to know which cylinder the probe went on to help convince them my flight test plan is appropriate, even though the flight test will be conducted with a 6 cylinder CHT/EGT monitor.

I can give more background if you want, in exchange for the info I seek.

Perhaps we could consider this a data sampling request. Older 182 owners with simple or original engine monitoring...go peep your CHT probe, and report which cylinder it's on.

Here is a manual for a 1957-1958 Cessna 182. Page 1-5 says the optional CHT is mounted on the Left Rear cylinder.

I found that manual last night after I posted the original question, but I don't recall seeing the reference to #2, thanks.

I found a reference to a Cessna kit AK182-4, but I haven't been able to find the paperwork.

I really need Cessna documentation saying where it goes. This owners manual helps, just need to address the 56, 59-61 models.
