1959 C172 gear leg replacement options

Hey All,

Got the unfortunate news from my IA that the LH gear leg has such significant pitting underneath the step that it wouldn't meet the cessna service bulletin standard and needs to be replaced...

Looks like for our S/N series calls for a part number 0541158-3.

Looking several places but can't seem to find a gear leg that's just as bad or worse than our current one.

Are any of the other part numbers for 100 series cessna interchangeable? Such as earlier model 182 spring gear look very similar but obviously have a didn't part number.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

The Landing Gear Works in Renton, WA may have an aftermarket solution, but won't be cheap.

You may be more in luck replacing left right and nose strut with a later one. Our C model with the short gear still works fine.
