1959 T182 ? should I add Sportsman/VG's?
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing because I would also like to do both mods eventually. I guess the Sportsman should be added first.

Micros vg's(wich I think are preferred) are mounted forward. If you have the Sportsman kit, they will be on it. I think there is another company making vg's that you can put on a 180 that mount farther back on the wing. I was told they weren't as effective. I have the micros and am happy with them.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Your plane is the perfect candidate for a sportsman, and yes, Micro vg's go on top of the sportsman cuff. Only thing you'll lose is decent angle. It increases the glide angle especially on a 170.... but that's what the flaps are for. I haven't flown a 170 with both, but the sportsman alone is quite a boost.

Airspeed, Altitude, Brains. You need 2 of the 3!

I'm still getting used to the 170.... Seems like it drops like a rock with 40 degrees of flaps compared to my Dad's Cessna 120 that I was used to flying.

Pulled my Wing x extensions yesterday from my 206 with the Sportsman. Wont need the extra performance for a couple of months and want to get it out of the weather and into a cheaper T hanger. At the light weight I couldnt tell any performance difference.
