2 years waiting

well finally got some good news last week. I put my part 135 single cert in about 2 years ago and i called last week to the local field office in Anchorage and I'm #2 in line!

She said the average wait time for a new cert request is 700 days!

Back about 2 years ago, we made a fuss to the local tv news and they ran a story on it

Re: 2 years waiting

wow that is great you are next in line but man that sucks that it's been that long. I can't believe that is only 60 officers up there in aviation mecca. The FAA sent a guy out to check me just because I ground-looped and ran over a taxi light just 3 months after it happened. You would think they could find a better balance.

Re: 2 years waiting

There are well over a hundred, and maybe TWO hundred inspectors in the three FSDO's in Alaska. There is simply no excuse for taking this long to issue a new certificate.

Try to get one of these guys to do something ten minutes after the 4:30 whistle goes off. Good luck.

In addition, the inspectors spend a HUGE amount of time being "trained" in Oklahoma City. It really is incredible when you talk to these folks how much time they do spend down there, in training.

Anyway, congratulations, and good luck. Number two might mean next year, eh?

Typical government beuracracy!!! If you owe them money (or if they even think you do) or have any type of violation they would be on your ass in a flash!!! But try to "ask" anything from them and you have to "wait your turn". The problem is...no one wants to do it or help. They don't get "brownie points" for helping...only for nailing your ass for some minor infraction. Okay, I'm done ranting. :)

They do have a customer service initiative and it can work. Problem is, if it works, and you get a certificate, guess who will be your POI??

Same goes for the political route.

The system is broke, and nobody with any horsepower is interested in fixing THAT part of it. Course, as bad as they've screwed up every ATC Modernization project they've tackled, maybe we don't want them "improving" things.
