I have a gate pass but have been instructed by my superiors (if such a thing exists) to come inside the gate and park immediately. What we need is a golf cart or at least a little "Radio Flyer" red wagon with an ice chest in it. I guess what I'm saying is. Give me a shopping list and i'll get it as far as the main Air Races hangar. The one with all the biplanes and formula ones in it. With burning man over, I wonder if the market will flood with gas powered golf carts....

Need one of those coolers that drifterdriver won. Just fill it and ride it over to the hangar!

Is the traditional Thursday evening still good for the Santa Fe?
Around 5pm for the bar and dinner served 6pm on. They don't care if it's a few or a lot, no reservations, just show up.
I'll be there Rob, may even get my wife to attend. How about you AKT? Can you make it before your trip?

I'm booked to fly into Reno on Wednesday morning.

If nothing changes with work I will make out there by noon. Looking forward to meeting some of you High Sierra BCP guys and checking out the races.

If you are attending the Air Races on Saturday here is a heads up.
Major General Wayne Adams served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a skilled jet and P51 pilot.
When the Races began in 1964, they included a x country from Clearwater FL to Reno.
Adams won it in his P51 and there is a story behind that flight. He didn't compete in the races because his Mustang was set up for x country.
However, at the last minute Bob Hoover was called away and Adams flew the lead plane to start the first Unlimited class race.
He and a handful of pilots were responsible for the beginning and the continuation of the Reno Air Races..He served as the Director of the Races and as Commander of the Air National Guard. His abilities with the P51 are legendary and his many stories are great.
Wayne Adams is rapidly loosing his sight so he completed an oral history which has been transcribed and rushed through printing to make the 2014 Air Races. He will have a booth Saturday in the general area right outside the Pit gate.
Please stop by. if not to purchase the book, at least to visit and thank him for his service and for helping us to have the annual Air Races.

Golf carts are pretty cheap, but it would seem someone might more readily have an ATV available.

I'd be buyin' me an ATV if I hadn't just bought an engine. Maybe I can afford a bicycle....

The airplane is washed and packed gassed and ready for departure from Troutdale at about 8 AM Wednesday morning. That should put me to Carson about noon or 12:30 PM won't make it out to the race track tomorrow I don't think by the time we get the rental car we will go to Stead. I might show my boy Virginia City or Lake Tahoe. He has not been to the area. We will be up at Stead first thing Thursday morning.
In honor of the air races I put the super go fast 850s on the Maule. Because we know trapped inside of every Maule is a P 51 trying to escape.
Dave I'll make contact Wednesday afternoon or evening if you're available.
Everybody don't forget Santa Fe Hotel, meet in the bar 5 PM Thursday for drinks and dinner. If you've never been there it's a great place.
Cheers Rob

Rob, just checked your spot. You flew west of your usual course. Right over the ranch ( spot 9).
Great flight time and even went over Tahoe.
See you tomorrow,
John
