2016.04.13 Calm Before the Storm (Dawn Patroling)

A weather frontal system is moving in off the Pacific. Decided to get a surf check flight before any significant weather arrives...

Thank you Farm Boy.

Hopefully, it's not too bad tomorrow...

The front is creating hurricane force winds on West Vancouver Is.

Did you paddle out? Looked like the winds wasn't doing the surf any favors there.

I had to get back and complete some work later that afternoon, so there was no time to get out in the ocean. I did some body surfing (full 5mm, hood, booties, gloves) last week @ South Beach Park.

The surf is rising tonight and it's going to be too big for me in most places. When it gets smaller and less windy, I will try putting on a GoPro next time paddling out. Acclimating the cold is a real challenge after being in the tropics. But, I love being here.

Water is 56F:

Surf full face height could reach 30' tomorrow, not for me :o

Holy $&$&! It's down to 28F at your place tonight!!! You surfing in that??

We used to surf in Japan during the winter (snow on the beach). That was back when we could burn truck tires and pallets on the beach for heat after a session. No Sierra Club in Chiba Peninsula.
