2017 Gila Wilderness Regional Backcountry Fly-In Sept 15-17

Are you looking for some great flying this weekend in the Intermountain West? There is a nice backcountry fly-In in the Western New Mexico high country.

Plan to take part in the 7th annual Fly-In to the USFS's Negrito and surrounding USFS and Catron County airstrips. Although the event is expanded and based at Reserve, NM this year, some attendees are expected to camp at Negrito.

A $55 registration fee includes food and non-alcoholic drinks for dinner Friday and Saturday night, and breakfasts both Saturday and Sunday at Reserve, NM. Dinner Saturday night will be catered by the Adobe Café in Reserve. A burrito breakfast will be provided Saturday morning at the Negrito Airstrip for those camping there.

Re: 2017 Gila Wilderness Regional Backcountry Fly-In Sept 1

Update Today, Wednesday, September 13th:

"Hello Everyone:

All is a go for the Gila Regional Flyin (formerly Negrito) this weekend (9/15 thru 9/17). The weather report looks stellar.

This year we are changing the format of the flyin and will base most operations out of Reserve. For those of you that want to camp at Negrito, you are welcome to do so. We will have the meals at Reserve (T16), but will have them early enough so that you can eat and return to Negrito (0NM7 - 19 air miles).

We will be having Ron Keller's famous Green Chile Brauts on Friday night and the Adobe Cafe will be catering a great dinner for Saturday night. Breakfast will be provided both Saturday and Sunday mornings. For those of you camping at Negrito, we will fly up some breakfast burritos Saturday morning.

One final thought. Bow hunting season is underway in the Gila. Please limit your low level flying and avoid disturbing hunting parties or the game.

Hope to see you all this weekend!!

Regards, Larry Filener"
