206 to 3800 gross

I sifted through the FAA STC database but couldn't find what I was looking for, are there any STCs available that bring a U206G on wheels to 3800 gross weight without increasing wing span?

Thanks

If I read the website correctly, that only increase the max landing weight and works in conjunction with another STC that increases the max takeoff weight. The only STC I know of that increases the max takeoff weight are Wiptips.

Re: 206 to 3800 gross

Flint tip fuel tanks both extend the wings and increase gross weight to 3800 on most models of 206.

Wipaire's IO-550 engine modification and float kit increases gross weight to 3800 as well, on both floats and wheels.

I've flown both those mods on a few 206s, and the airplane does just fine. Only down side with the Flint tanks is the extended wings can be problematic in T-Hangars.

The IO-550 float conversion seriously reinforces the firewall, and provides float strut attach points at the firewall, instead of via the nosegear attach, so much stronger float gear attach. And, that airplane purely SINGS with that engine, on floats and wheels. The 550 is the engine the 206 always wanted.

Tip tanks increase the wing span though correct? He specifically asked for a STC that does not increase the span and when on wheels. I don't know of any that do that.

Ah, ok I thought that only worked with floats... if the gross weight increase also applies to wheels then that would be the solution I was looking for. Thanks MTV

I had been confused by the wording on their website, I'll chat with them.

Oops, missed his admonition about wingspan. We had a G model with the Flint tips that lived in a T-Hangar. Certain pilots managed to “adjust” the position lights occasionally.

Let us know what they say. The Flight Manual supplement in mine did not state different GW from floats to wheels.

Re: 206 to 3800 gross

Assuming 3800 gross, and a reasonable effort made to reduce empty weight, could a U206G be set up to handle 1800lbs of useful load?

Interested to hear what 1800lbs you’re planning to carry. Full tanks and a 217lb pax in each of the 6 seats? Haha that’s a lot

I would think it should be pretty easy to set up that way. My P206A has 1754lb useful...

Amy from Wipaire has confirmed that the aircraft must be on floats to take advantage of the gross weight increase.

Interesting! Thanks for the research.

So, that leaves the Flint tanks as the only legal 3800 pound GW conversion on wheels.....
