206 trip Alaska to Bremerton, Wa

Well I'm heading south for an engine swap and will try and post some updates along the way. I'm getting a little of late start as I was originally planning December but I procrastinated mainly because I was having too much fun in Prince William Sound chasing deer. But alas the time is here, deer season is closed, and spring will be here before you know it.

Tentative route is launching from 99Z (on the ice) tomorrow morning and heading to Gulkana to top off fuel then Whitehorse. Depending on how early I get out of Wasilla and weather I might try to make Watson Lake tomorrow. Well if anyone sees a red white yellow 206 along the route come say hello.

We have a spare room you are most welcome to in Ft Nelson if you end up this way the right time of day. Gordons Field CBL3, 7SW of CYYE. Two parallel strips, one plowed, one not. Should be obvious, but the longer strip with the markers is not plowed. Place to plug in, just pull up in front of the blue and white Scout in an open hanger.

Well I made it to Whitehorse today. Pretty good trip so far other than a little scuzzy low level ice fog here. Calling it a day and now in search of some food.
I appreciate the offers we'll see how tomorrow treats me weather wise and what route from here I plan on taking.Image

Wish I could remember the name of the BBQ place downtown. It was terrific. People were lined up out the door when I went through, but that was in season. Enjoy the trip and be safe.

The Skye Hotel across the road from the airport has a good Korean Restaurant. Handy rooms for airport access. Walking distance. Might not be the most economical.

The BBQ place downtown is Klondike Rib and Salmon. Very good eats, but only open seasonally.

Funny thing I'm actually sitting in the Korean restaurant while I'm typing this. Prices aren't terrible on the rooms $125 Canadian dollar. No need for real IFR yet on this trip. Tomorrow is a new day though.

Well a quick update on the trip. Currently I'm stirring in Williams lake, BC made it here from Whitehorse yesterday. Launched Whitehorse in the morning pretty much direct to Watson lake and fueled. Trench was looking pretty ugly so I decided to skirt ft. Nelson and ft. St. John down the east side of the hills. Was a good 4 hr leg from Watson lake to Prince George that way. Quickly dumped some fuel in and made it to Williams lake around dark slightly ahead of the snow.

Is Williams Lake still a "cheap" taxi ride as the only way to get to town?

Well I lucked out last night and the nice lady running the rental car spot at the airport terminal offered a ride to town. She said to expect a $40 ride from the cab today

Well currently sitting in Kamloops right now plan is to launch to Bellingham tomorrow morning. Watched more snow come down most of the day in Williams lake this morning. Got a SVFR out of there and ran over here about 2 o clock.
