28U Owyhee Res. State Memorial weekend?

Is anyone planning on going to Owyhee State airstrip for the Memorial day weekend? If so I hope to see you there. How about the Hood River group? I talked to Jeff Jacobs and he was interested. Bob

Just got back. Hot hot hot. Record temperatures didn't help as it climbed to over 100 in the shade on Saturday. Hopefully things will cool down a bit next weekend.

You missed the shrimp. A group from Chehalis were hosts extrodanair. They're having a fly-in June 21st at their 2100' grass strip "Fantasy Field Airstrip" N46*35.270' W 122*51.946, just south of Chehalis. If I recall from driving by it looked like landing south would be the best direction. They have a posting elsewhere here under fly-ins. Best to confirm rather than take my word for it.

The runway is in pretty good condition. Very dusty though. If you come in with a tailwheel, you might not want to do a quick turnaround unless you like IFR on the ground. It does provide great amusement for the bystanders though.

Brand new windsock installed Saturday evening.

Generally land north depart south, winds depending.

Most, if not all, tiedowns had chains.

Fishing. The lake has bass. Tons of carp (or maybe they're crappies) swimming near the surface. One could net a bunch fairly easily but I don't know what they're like for eating.

Have a great time.
