3/27 New Mexico Meeting

I just wanted to let anyone who might be interested, that New Mexico has formed the NM Recreational Committee whose purpose will be to:

1. Inventory backcountry strips and develop a public database available that will be available on a website (yet to be determined).
2. Work to get legislation similar to other states whereby private owners who donate easements to their private airstrip are exempted from liability for its use. Since most backcountry strips in NM are private (as opposed to Idaho or Utah), this will be very important for backcountry flying in NM.
3. Have some fun once in a while and have some flyins.

Our first organizational meeting will be at Double Eagle Airport (AEG) at the restaurant (upstairs in the Bode FBO at the south-west end of the ramp) at 9:00 am 3/27/10. Anyone living in NM that is interested is welcome.

If you will send me a PM, I will include your name and email address on our list and keep you appraised of our activities and progress. That way if you can't make the meeting, you can still stay in touch.

Regards, Larry

Re: 3/27 New Mexico Meeting

Hey Larry
I'm headed to Coolidge Az. Fri. and have been going over old inventories of strips in NM. I am planning on flying down western NM,then heading down the S.F. River to San Carlos, then on to Coolidge and have 6-8 strips to check out. If I notice any that look like they have some potential, I'll let ya know.
