I recently got into 3D printing. Mainly to make holding jigs for laser marking my STC products in my big laser cutter. I have also used it for making all sorts of other stuff that have come in handy in the shop.

I thought this might be a good area to share files and show off things that others may have made.

To start...
For fun we 3D printed one of my gascolators in clear plastic.




I then made some tools for the shop.

This is for checking Lycoming conical mount bushings for the correct length of bolt engagement.



This tool is for aligning the shaft for Case magnetoes... Prototype, needs work as the pin breaks easy.



The following is a tool for using punch letters on one of my Gascolator tags that includes a serial number. With this I can replace a tag that gets damaged without having to by several hundred pre-numbered tags.

Made a cover for the bottom of a KitFox fuselage where the flap arm exits the lower fabric. Printed in high temp material so the sun wont mess it up.



It gets installed here.


I'm building a Diva kit car. Wanted to angle all the instruments to make them easier to see so came up with some wedged bezels for the instruments.

And last. I am friends with a couple that own a few Turbine powered toys. One being a Tucano. I printed and painted a model of one to give to them as a gift for fun. My daughter painted the tail to match their airplane.

I tried printing a clip on PTT holder for the 172 cessna yoke. I was using a pretty basic program. I never did get it quite right. I still have the giant velcro PTT.

Nice. I have a short list of a convenience items I've been thinking of trying to print. Any recommendations for a set up to get started and the printing medium you use for the high temp? I already have a handle on the design part of it.

Everything I posted above is PLA.. However, I started a print a belt clip holder for my Gerber multi-tool in PETG the other day and it was not finished by the time I left the shop for home. On vacation until next week so won’t see the finished part till then.

All I got is WOW!! Amazing projects....but the printed gascolater first looked like a urine sample container. LOL

My latest creation...

Was gifted a Gerber multi tool. Unfortunately the original belt carrier destroyed itself. So I spent some time on Alibre Design and came up with a holder that can clip onto a belt or pocket.









The clip part slides into a section in the back of the main holder. Currently it is a little too narrow to fit over a thick belt so I am going to redesign it a little thicker and re-print it. The clip also has to be printed in a way so the print lines are longitudinally so it will flex and not break the PETG.

Awesome prints! I too enjoy designing and 3d printing useful things. There is just so much that can be done with a little Ender3 or similar small cartesian style printer.

PETG is a great material but if I may suggest PLA plus for parts that require more flexibility like belt clips. PETG tends to break before it bends.
