406MHZ ELT's

Anybody swap over yet? Sounds like as of Feb 1st 121.5 is basically obsolete unless your lucky enough for someone to hear it and call it in. I just bought an experimental that requires some fly off time and it does not have an ELT in it. I was thinking of getting the 406 and being done with it but the cheapest one I could find was still around 1K. I can get a AK 450 121.5 one for $180 to appease the FAA. 1K is not too bad for a better chance of getting found I"m thinking. Anyone seen them cheaper anyplace?

Go to the search button and type in 406 mhz. There are several threads with all kinds of inputs on the subject.
