Short notice. Bluebird day tomorrow I'm thinking about Port Elsner airstrip north of Hood River. Then see where the winds take me after that.

I plan on heading out as soon as the fog burns off. I expect around 10.

PM for contact info or post if you want to meet somewhere.

I couldn't get on the rental schedule early enough for tomorrow. Took Erin out in the Cub this evening, we just got back.

Have fun. Be careful at bernie's.

It says you need to get prior permission from Bernie at 509-493-2161.

I'll be out tomorrow, just don't know what time. Took a tour around the area this evening just to blow the dust off.

Thanks for that. When I met him it a couple weeks ago he extended an invite but I didn't get his number. Just talked to him. If the winds have picked up, he doesn't recommend landing. We'll be on 122.9.

Craig: I was planing on going up to Hood River tomorrow to drop off a friend so he can pickup his Cessna 120 if it is done. I was planing on flying my C 120 or my -3 Stinson if my Son goes along.
I live over at fly for fun (W56) I also sent you a PM

You guys have fun. I have to entertain the wife as I was gone all week riding dirt toys in Idaho with the firemen. If I took her in there it would scare the crap out of her. Probably do Sunriver and go check the Madras house.

We may fly over so the wife can see Bernie's strip. If the wife wants we may go to Hood River for food instead of Sunriver. I'll be on 123.45

Cheers..Rob

Re: 5/1/2011 Port Elsner WA/OR area

What a stellar day.

We ended up with 6 airplanes and seven people. Bernie commented, Is that all?!? He's a great host and shuttled us around in his pickup giving us the grand tour.

We landed on The Big Strip so it wasn't bad at all. Winds were light all day. The parking area a bit rough for my nose dragger with the dinky nose wheel.

Afterwards, five of us went over to Hood River, piled in to a GEO and managed to get into town. More impressive, we managed to climb the hills back to the airport after having lunch.

Finished the day off with a stop at Brush Prarie, Daybreak, Goheen, & Cedars North which is waaay too soft in the taxi area. I have mud on the nose wheel axle from that. Note to self, no landing there until the ground is DRY!

I'll try to get some pictures posted soon.

Why I need bigger tires. This was from Cedars, not from Bernie's strip though bigger tires would be good for parking area.

Looks like a fun day! Besides Cedars how do the rest of the Clark county airstrips look?

Cedars had some really soft spots on the taxiway. Runway was better but still a bit mushy in places.

Fly For Fun, Brush Prairie, Goheen, and Daybreak, at least up to the outhouse, were all good enough.
