6/22/2007 - Minam River Lodge Fly-In - NE Oregon

For those of you who don't visit the 170 forums, I am putting together the 2nd annual 170 Fly-In at Minam Lodge in June. Shawn & Shelly Steen, whom many of you know, will be hosting our low keyed fly-in where a bunch of folks can enjoy the Eagle Cap Wilderness with other pilots and enjoy the hospitality of the Steen's at the Minam River Lodge. CTAF is 122.9.

You can tent camp by your airplane or rent a cabin or room at the lodge. Also, you can get one, two, or three meals a day at the lodge and a shower. Here's how you can get in touch with Shawn and Shelly at the Minam River Lodge:

Web Site - www.minamriverlodge.com
Email - [email protected]
Phone - 451-432-6545

Both Red's Horse Ranch and Minam River Lodge (1/4 mile apart) are located on the Seattle Sectional and 20-minutes from LGD, 8S4 and 4S3 (LaGrande, Enterprise & Joseph OR). 100LL is available at all 3-airports.
Minam Lodge is about 3800' MSL and is a 2000' grass strip that sits along the Minam River.

See the posting on the 170 Events/Fly-in forum for photos, etc. or call or PM me...Last year we had 8 or 9 different types of aircraft show up and a good time was had by all...

Minam Fly-in

Bill,

Any idea on the tentative number of fliers to Minam next weekend? I'm planning on Friday morning early from the valley. How are the dips near the windsock? I have 600's so I'll have to be a little easy on things.

Shawn's little brother.. :D

Scott,
I'll be going in there Friday Morning also and I'll probably level those dips out a bit with my landing.... Just kidding....They are still there, but if you've been in there in the last year they don't seem to be any different than last year... the folks that had the smaller tires last year did fine...I've got the 6x8s and it's not a concern to me....

Don't have a good handle on the numbers, but I know some folks have been talking to Shawn and Shelly about it, I honestly expect 20-planes...we'll see how close I am....See ya Friday morning....

I think Abe took a video, or maybe just a photo, of my landing into Minam. I would sure like to see it.

Guys, you can look at my gallery. I've uploaded some pics. I didn't get any of Sat since I headed out in the morning. Wayne I'm sure Bill got some of you.
Thanks again to Bill for organizing the event and Shawn & Shelly for the great hospitality. Nice meeting everyone and to put some names with faces.
It was fun and the weather was great! 8)

Nice photos

Scott, those are nice photos. I thought it was a 170 fly-in? Looks like some other makes, let alone not even Cessna's, were there.

Minam Fly-in

Thanks Bob! It really was a 170 fly-in but I decided to show the other planes as well that had stopped in just to enjoy Minam. :D
There were some Scouts, Cubs, PA-12, a Maule and several 170's.

Photos are coming and I will send both videos to Wayne and Scott of there superb landings at Minam...nice job both of you...Since I went playing at Minam I've had to do some real work and haven't had time to get on the computer....

Now don't add these up and check my math, but we had about 18-Aircraft which included...6-C-170's, 2-Scouts, 2-C-180's, 1-C-185, 1-Stinson, 1-C-150, 3-Cubs, 1-Helicopter,1-Maule...Great showing from the Baker City folks and Troy gave us a real treat as he departed in his Switzer Helicopter...nice piloting Troy....or was that your wife

It was a hoot and very nice to put some faces to those that came....Dennis McGinnis flew his 180 hp C-170 the furthest from SW Arizona....Shawn and Shelly spoiled us with great hospitality and the weather was great....

Karl, from Duvall, WA won the drawing for Abe's Deluxe Basic 3 Tie Down Kit...congradulations....

Nice Pics Scott...thanks for posting them....
