7.00 Mains on a 182

Can you put 7.00 mains on a 182 without putting a 6.00 on the front or would it mess up the stance of the plane too much? If I want to go a little bigger I must get a beefed up front fork that will fit a 6.00, right? Thanks for the help.

Also, 7.00 on the mains and a little 5.00 on the nose would leave my prop pretty close to the ground. F

Re: 7.00 Mains on a 182

I have a 182 with 700x6 on the mains and 600x6 on the nose. I cannot see any advantage to having bigger mains and a stock little nose wheel. To get a 600 on the nose you need a 310 or 206 fork. They are getting harder to find. tThe other option is to get a Landis Fork but then the money is getting harder to find.

My 182 with that tire configuration. Ignor the rif raf in front of the plane.

Yes to 6x6nose and 700 mains --that's what Tim and I have . He cut his nose piston down -I did not. Works Great. I have a 411 nose fork -think Tim Avery has one off 206 -both same width>height. I've tried a 700x6 on the nose and it will fit -really close .I also have a set of 850's for the mains .Brakes are Cleveland Double Pucks.

Re: 7.00 Mains on a 182

FYI:

Landes requires all wheels to be the same size. They have promised us an approval for a smaller nose wheel for a long time, and it still has not happened. So I run 8.00x6 all the way around just in case I ever have to have a conversation with an insurance adjuster.

I do change them to 6.00x6 during the winter just so I'm not dragging (no pun intended) so much junk out there.

You're never too old to learn something stupid.

Re: 7.00 Mains on a 182

Here is a link to a 310 nose fork that expired in Oct.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT

It was located in Mustang, OK and the item # 320598854333

You might try to find him,as it did not sell, and was real cheap. Ebay seller name is planeparts4

Here is one out there now, but not so cheap.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cessna-1 ... rtsQ5fGear

Let me know if this helped.

Re: 7.00 Mains on a 182

While it is true the Landes/Airglas STC requires the same size tire at all three stations, I recently obtained a field approval from the Seattle FSDO for an 8.00 on the nose and 8.50's on the mains using the Landes/Airglas nose fork. The only condition imposed by the FAA was that I change from aluminum axles on the mains to HD steel axles, which I was going to do anyway. This setup was a change from 8.00's all around with the Landes/Airglas nose fork. If you're interested in a copy of the field approval, I'd be glad to send it, provided I can figure out how. BTW, I'm very happy with this setup and have notice no change in IAS.

You better not be dying or going to jail Gump. My only disappointment this year at Austin was that you weren't there. What a fun time!

Re: 7.00 Mains on a 182

If you guys would quit putting on the Austin fly-in on the very same weekend as the Husky Idaho "Root Ranch" fly-in, I would be most appreciative. Missed Austin two years in a row . . . Dammit!
