Very nice! Are you going to put 31s on it?

Re: 7GCBC Citabria Rebuild

Used PolyFiber Heavy fabric for belly and tail control surfaces. Also used pre-sewn envelopes, the fuselage envelope fit perfectly. Hardest part was keeping the sewn seem straight down the back bone.

Yes Sir, Im going to add 31's, Borer Prop, and VGs. Kind of curious as to what kind of take-off performance its going to have with the mods.

Re: 7GCBC Citabria Rebuild

Oh its gonna be good. I really wish I'd have had scout gear on mine, as I could easily land tailwheel first, and the longer gear would've really been nice. I had the stock prop pitched to 52, VGs, and 31s, and id say it had great performance. I was in and out of some pretty short stuff with it.
This was my bird, sold it about 2 months ago to upgrade to a 180.

Re: 7GCBC Citabria Rebuild

Yeah I'm in the same boat.. I love the plane and I put a lot of work into it ,but when it's done I'm going to have to sell or trade it for a 180 or 185. I can't take the wife and dogs, I have to loose one or the other.

Re: 7GCBC Citabria Rebuild

Yup. A week after I bought the 180 my wife informed me that we we're having our first kid. So I made the move at the right time. Wife+kid+100lb dog+camping gear= way to much for a Citabria.

Awesome progress!
Once you're at that stage, you really get to see the progress with every minute you spend. It's great!

Yeah it does seem like it's going really fast now that all the parts laying around my hangar are slowly starting to disappear. Hoping to have it in the air in a month.

Re: 7GCBC Citabria Rebuild

Any pics of the skylight install?

BTW, what kind of time machine do you have in your toolbox that lets you post an avatar of your Citabria before it is built?

As a lurker and big Citabria fan, I really appreciate the above image. I rent GCBCs/GCAAs and figured it would make a great little off-airport plane given some longer gear and larger tires, but had yet to see someone post an image of one set up. Hopefully someday I will have one of my own!

(Now back to the awesome build thread. I can't wait to see this thing finished.)

Re: 7GCBC Citabria Rebuild

I've been really behind, but the Citabria is finally finished and I've brought it with me to AK. I have around 60hrs on it now and have just about all of the bugs worked out.

Re: 7GCBC Citabria Rebuild

That Scout gear sure raises the nose up, and you don't even have the really big tires on yet - those still the 8:50's? Nice to see in the off-airport environment - as you intended. For Alaska the Citabria heater has it all over the competition.
