8.50 Tyres for C206

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Landes Airglas: http://www.airglas.com/nose_fork/index.html

Their stc requires that you use the nose fork from a Cherokee Six, and run 8.50 X 6.00 tires on all three, or larger tires on the mains.

Just installed 8.50's on my 1959 C182 using the Landes nose fork STC. Our FAA FSDO here in Montana granted a field approval to run an 8.00 on the nose wheel. Contact Chris at Airglas for further info. They give great support for a great product....although pricey.....but avoids waiting forever for complete field approval.....good luck

Why did you decide to put an 8.00 on the nose? Just curious.

Re: 8.50 Tyres for C206

I don't know why the man in Montana put an 8.00 on the nose, but we wound up doing that on the nose gear of all our 206 airplanes that were wearing 8.50 X 6.00 mains. The reason is to retain the geometry of the original airplane. With 8.50s all around, it is really difficult not to land the airplane nosewheel first. It can certainly be done, but it's a LOT easier with the 8.00 on the nose.

On the airplane we figured needed bigger tires yet, we put 8.50 X 10 tires and wheel adapters on the mains and an 8.50 on the nose. You can also go to bushwheels in that configuration.

I see! I know exactly what your talking about. After I put the 850's all around, I had a hard time keeping the nose up on touch down  ! A few times I thought for sure when I get out of the plane, I'd see my firewall bent  . But luckly I didn't. But now I have it all somewhat figured out and have no problem keeping the nose high on touch down. In fact I think I'm getting good at doing wheelies down the runway a short bit!
