9/18/2010 Morning Shadows Ranch - 9/19 Creede Colo Fly-ins

Once again the owner of Morning Shadows Ranch has graciously invited all for a great fly-in camping experience. To be followed the next day by the San Luis Valley Pilots Assn fly-in at the Creede airport. This year the Creede fly-in will coincide with the local car club show. The car owners are showing thier cars in town Sat and then bringing their cars to the airport Sunday.
I am planning on visiting the Sand Dunes Pool Sat afternoon. Should be a great two day event.

OK, you got me, Tadpole.

What I meant to say, what other information do you have, including times, locations (unless one's a local or been there before, one has no idea where Morning Shadows Ranch is at .. can't say I've ever heard of Creede before, or have any idea where it is, other than in the State of Colorado), airport info, and other fly-in info?

The headline may contain a bit of information, but it's pretty skimpy in that regard

Creede is south central CO, Morning Shadows is east of Creede and just northwest of Monte Vista CO...it's on the Denver sectional...this is all east of Alamosa CO, or northeast of Wolf Creek Pass...or........

I don't have times but I'll give you this...

Creede is C24, it's on the Denver Sectional. The airport is called Mineral County Memorial.

Morning Shadows is CD69. It's on the Denver sectional, just ESE of Creede before you get to Del Norte (8V1)

Sorry for the bevity nmflyguy. Morning Shadows starts whenever you get there. Very nice BC strip on Embargo creek. There should be ground transport if you need it. A BBQ by the owner and locals in the pm. Great camping spots under the Cottonwoods or by your plane. N 37 44 33.43 W 106 31 35.18
The Creede bfast flyin usually starts around 8 am. Last year they ran out of food around 9 am (We had lots of people show up) Probably more people this year with the car show. The Bfast people are planning accordingly. N 37 49 19.75 W 106 55 46.96

Thanks for the info, Tom. Never flown in that area before (i've flown into Durango and Pagosa Sp, but that's it in So. Colorado), but would like to. Sounds like a fun outing & mid-September is a great time of year for a Colorado fly-in.

The weekend of the 18th is open on the schedule - the following weekend New Mexico Pilots Association is doing our annual Mountain Flying Clinic out of Santa Fe, which I'm doing this year.

Tom, once we get closer and I know if I'm free from work...I'll let you know. I figure I'll end up driving, so I can stop in town and haul stuff in if you need me to.

Looks like I'll be able to make morning shadows, but I have to work the 19th so I'll probably skip on Creede.
