I don't know the whole story. I didn't even know this picture existed until after she was gone. What I do know is that she lived and worked at the Boeing plant in Seattle during the war. I believe this was a famous B-17 that had returned from Europe following it's tour of duty and had come back to the Boeing plant where she worked. Other than simply being there at the right time to pose with the crew, I don't know much more.

http://www.303rdbg.com/missionreports/ha-vs-mb.pdfapparently it was the first plane to complete 25 missions, 6 days before the Memphis bell, then stayed on in England to complete a total of 48 missions before it was returned home with it's crew. interesting story.
