I´ve made this question a couple of times in some other forums, but wanted to hear your ideas too.
Do you think a 8KCAB, the old one, not the Super Decathlon but the 150HP, could be used as a tow plane? Yes, if you fit a towing hook on a Learjet it will tow, in fact there are some used that way (not to tow banners exactly, but hey, they can tow). The question is if you have seen, owned or have an idea of how it would perform.
It has the wrong wing, we agree, but then, there´s not any 150HP 8KCAB in Spain and I don´t have a clue about how it handles in the real world. Would it stall at 190Kts? 19Kts? Would it be spinning if flown under 60Kts with a blanket tied to its tail?
I´ve been thinking about it for a couple of years now. The plane can procure me the kind of fun that I like, it´s inexpensive... and if it were able to work paying for its own bills, it would be even better.
Why a Decathlon and not a 7GCBC? Did you try to find one around Europe? Try for fun one of this evenings. If you are able to find a good one you´ll have a beer. You can find some, yes, but ACA made, this is, too new to be cheap, but old enough to need an overhaul.
Opinions?
