Coming back from the Carey Fly-in (that went perfect again, great weather), I made a stopover at Bear Trap Cave. I was also going to set down by the Great Rift/ Crystal Ice Caverns, but there were too many people there, I had Bear Trap all to myself. This desert is riddled with caves, and the terrain (lava fields) is so rugged many are still unexplored. Bear Trap is on the edge of the lava, in the sage, with a nice strip right down the road or you can set down right in front. There's another couple of caves right across the road. The official airstrip is a great place to camp out, it is great for meteor showers as it gets REAL dark there as there is nothing for a long ways.
