A RECORD ATTEMPT!

Hey guys! my mate Ron watts is attempting to break my take off and landing record on the second of November raising funds for another amazing charity called MAF. hes going for a huge 140 take off and landings which I can vouch from experience is a massive effort!

So check out his site and get behind him. MAF does amazing work all over the world and could use your support!

Good luck to Ron!

So what counts as a flight? How much time between TO and LND is needed to count it?

Re: A RECORD ATTEMPT!

its a full 1000 foot circuit but a very closely monitored circuit. so its very strict how its flown. and its 1 landing per circuit, so no bumping. the aircraft most slow up enough for a photo to be taken of the aircraft with all 3 wheels on the ground.

i set the previous record at 122. ron had the previous record before that of 102

Re: A RECORD ATTEMPT!

I don't get how 144 landings are hard?! I can go to several airports and make 10 landings in an hr. If I had a 1000ft circuit that I had to make and not fly from A to B that seems easy....Please explain more??? I think its a great cause, just don't understand how 122 or 102 landings are hard...for a Day! 24 hrs??? 12 hrs?? cause heck I could start take a nap, and go at it again.

Re: A RECORD ATTEMPT!

he has 24 hours to do it in, though he also has to do it during daylight hours (aircraft isn't night flight equiped)

When i set the record to make sure weather was reliable i had to do it in a time of year when the days where short, so i did mine in 7 hours.

it all seems fairly easy, but when you fly 140 circuits at the same airfield at the same day with a saftey pilot on bored to insure all your procedures are 100 percent correct, another on the ground watching your every move. aswell as a CASA rep (our version of your FAA i think its called) also watching your every step its alot harder than it firsts seems.

also as its a "record attempt" casa likes to throw in a whole heep of extra safey things that you wouldnt normally have to do on any other flight making he day longer again
