A season for gratitude

There was a public shooting yesterday in Reno. My wife was there. In fact the shooter seemed to her to have momentarily selected her for execution, then changed his mind. Thank God. We pray "Deliver us from evil". It seems this time we were rewarded. I've included an article site for your reading displeasure. I do this because I'm shook up and this is my home internet community. This is a place where I hang out several hours every day. I don't hang out anywhere else THAT much.

We are in a state of shock. She's sleeping it off. She's tougher than she knows. We all could face this sort of thing any time. Keep all your emotional accounts paid up in full. Don't leave the love unexpressed. That's the message here. Kiss her good by every time you leave the house.

Please can we not turn this into a damn debate? Just think about it and be grateful.

The first 5:30PM update eyewitness is my wife, the second is her galpal whom she had taken to the doctor.

(Mods remove this if you want.)

Thanks
Dan

Dan, it's hard to imagine the emotional state your wife and you are going through, but I would like to thank you for the reminder that tomorrow may never come and each day is truly a blessing.

A few family's will not have a bright and marry Christmas this year, please keep those folks in your thoughts and prayers. :(

Re: A season for gratitude

I can't even imagine the emotions you are both experiencing. Thank goodness it turned out like it did for your wife, and thanks for sharing it with us to let us help share the burden.

You'll be in my thoughts, along with all those affected by these recent tragedies.

(And I agree--let's all be thankful together and not turn this into any kind of debate about anything. There are plenty of other places for that.)

Holy shit! Hold that woman tight, bro. And please take advantage of any services offered if she has trouble coping.

Merry Christmas.

Re: A season for gratitude

Dan. Glad to hear your wife was spared. I have been holding mine tight after the passing of a good friends wife last weekend. Suffocated in deep snow while snowboarding. Terribly sad and really makes one glad to still have a wife to hold.

Glad your wife is okay. Such a scary, powerless feeling. I could say more, but that discussion can be had elsewhere.

Re: A season for gratitude

I think most if not all of us have a lot to be thankful for. Sometimes it takes something ugly to make us realize just how blessed we are.

Dan, hug that Lady tight, and all you other folks, hug a loved one or friend. I think most of us fail to appreciate the blessings we have.

Re: A season for gratitude

Very tragic circumstances and I am glad that your wife is ok! It is going to be an emotional roller coaster for her as I am sure many of these were friends/colleauges and people that she cared about who are affected by this tragedy. Make sure that she attends their debriefing. If they do not have a debrief, she should suggest it to her superiors as this causes a lot of emotional pain for those involved.

Definitely makes us realize how fragile life can be and how fast it can be taken from us. A good message to take away from this story is just that. Love the ones we are around and those in our lives. Make the most of the time and we need to focus on helping each other out and being there for one another. Live life and enjoy it!

Merry Christmas to all of you and Happy Holidays for those of different religions. Fly safe and BE SAFE!
