Glad to see you say post this!
Some of those jabs were starting to seem harsh even from this hillbilly's perspective.
Keep up the good work.

I, too, enjoy this site and would hate to see it end because of non aviation related political BS. It takes a big man to say I am sorry. You did that so the ball is in their court.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Thanks Zane,

This has become a favorite site for me to visit....almost on a daily basis. Many mornings, while having coffee, I regale my wife with stories from BCP. In conversations with fellow aviators, the subject of BCP is often referenced. The information and knowledge gained here enabled my son and I to spend 10 days in Idaho/Montana last summer, enjoying our first backcountry flying experience.

When bad weather grounded us in Montana....a poster who had sent us information about the Missouri Breaks Natl. monument ended up meeting us, without any prior arrangement, when we landed nearby. He and his wife arranged hanger usage for us, loaned us a vehicle and arranged accommodations in the only "hotel" in town....a converted bank building.

After "helping" us they handed us the keys to their truck said..."park it in the driveway when you leave" and then left town for three days.

Just a small example of the sort of folks who make this site such a valuable resourse. Almost daily I learn of new places that fire my imagination. Although a highly experience airman....backcountry/mountain flying is an area in which I am a relative novice. The posters on this site have provided me with much information and thought provoking guidence which will enhance and make safer my remaining flying adventures.

Hey...I love politics and could discuss the subject daily. I've been an active participant and vocal throughout my live. Thousands of hours in cockpits have been filled with political discussions. Thousands more hours of political debate has been engaged....around the campfire, coffee pot, family gatherings or while hangar flying. Some quite heated. After 40+ years of political debate I can honestly say that ....."I've never changed a single person's mind." We all have seen such discussions ruin relationships, organizations and yes....even forums such as this. So, you are right. Let's stay out of the political fray....and kick off the offenders. They won't be missed.

Thanks,

Bob

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

Zane,

Sorry to butt in here, I sent you a PM last night, but I'm not sure if you received it or not.

Iceman is unable to log in, and his photo gallery is gone. He really would of appreciated it if you would have talked to him before quietly making him go away. He is trying to get in contact with you, but as he cannot log in, he cannot use the pm feature. Outside of Hot Air, he has been contributing a lot lately. Wakinsnv also is unable to login, but I don't think it's breaking his heart.

You all can resume singing Kumbaya

"illegitimati non carborundum est"

Zane,

Don't know you but I can tell you from my work where I end up getting blasted at fairly often and visiously by some of the far right extreemers on the local radio and blogs and the best advice I can give is the same my dad gave me when I got into the target zone doing what I choose to do "illegitimati non carborundum est"

FYI - Great site....

Except of course if they got the boot, which it looks like they did 'cause them feller's don't sound like the type to go quietly. Just an observation from the new old guy.

Sorry about the comedian...

I've been out of town so I missed the T-Shirt execution episode...

Just wanted to add my kudos. Z, you do a fantastic job with this site and I can only imagine the amount of time you put into it.

You should seriously consider putting a voluntary donation Paypal button on here. I know I've donated money to sites much less entertaining and informative than this one. Might help you pay for some avgas, anyway!

Words to live by.

Seems as though most forums need a "hot air" type subforum to allow people to spout off in - including, occasionally, me. A "we-fight-them-over-there-so-we-don't-have-to-fight-them-here" kind of place.

That being said, people should behave themselves there too. It constantly amazes me how adults with a pilot certificate can so easily come off as adolescents.

Appreciate the work you do Zane, I learn a lot from here and it is nice to converse with a "different" group of fellow pilots than might be found at other forums and groups.

BTW if you need a wingman to gang up on those guys I'm here for ya \:D/ There's more than just one 170-owning, left-leaning ski-bum-imitating liberal around here

Yeah.........take it easy on them Nevada guys. There's atleast a handful of good ones. Let's see, one found a half dead guy in the middle of a dry lake bed and another is an aspiring film actor, singer, dancer, etc.

But hey, thanks Zane for all you do with this FREE website! I am truely addicted to the site!! I'm on here about everyday as much as I can. I know I have not supplied a whole lot of useful information since I joined, like many other great members have. But I have learned and gained alot of great information from others. I'm not much into politics, so I'm glad I didn't get too involved with some of the heated discusions. I know I have gotten a little side tracked on some of the forums but I plan to stay focused on more of the flying related topics. :)

Again, Zane and Chris have two of the best sites on the net and I'll support both them as much as I can in a possitive way from this day on!

Holy Moly

I am lost out in the desert for a couple days and the place gets an overhaul.

Wow, hopefully we can get back to flying and overhauling airplanes now. I still have two that need to be finished and ones going to get a pod mounted on one wing so we dont miss any of the fun shots.

Zane, when are you coming down next? You still have an Acro lesson coming.

Gota go! there spooling up the turbine........................

Hey Zane;
Sure glad you have thick skin and a bit more maturity than some of us here. And please don't restrict your own opinion and feelings in the future; your site has 1478 members and some of us might even enjoy reading your thoughts on a subject.

Zane,

I replied to your pm about expulsion of members yesterday, did you receive it? I'm not sure if the pm feature is working properly.

How many people were booted? Was it the t-shirt people? I'm sort of late to the news here, is the offensive content on this site or has it been removed along with the hooligans?

I think there were 2 people that were let go, but am not positive. The funny thing is, I don't think they were involved in the T-Shirt thing. :?:

I have my reasons for the the actions that have been taken, which may not make complete sense without knowing some of the background.

More than anything I wanted to make it known that civility and sense of community are things I pay attention to and value with BCP. A few bad apples can sour an otherwise very positive environment. I intend to use a heavier hand if necessary to maintain that, within reason. I hope you guys can appreciate that without viewing it as some sort of totalitarian control freak thing.

I suggest we let this thread sink and move on with the flying talk. Thanks for all the words of support. I plan to put many more hours of development time into the site this year to make stuff better and easier to use.

PS: you can tell if a PM has been read because it will have been automatically moved from your Outbox to your Sentbox.

Wait!!! I didn't get a chance to say what a great site this is too!!!

On the bright side, at least they had to PAY for a T-Shirt to shoot up.

Hope this site is here for years to come, my friend.
