ACR PLB Replacement Battery
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Hey everyone,
I don't recall seeing this discussed, so forgive me if I've missed it.
When I bought my ACR PLB 5 years ago, I remember reading that in 5 years time the battery would need to be replaced. So, any if you done it? I've read on another forum that it can be kind of expensive...but that you may be able to find the same battery pack for cheaper on eBay, Radio Shack, etc. So I'm curious what you all have done, how much it has cost, who you bought the battery from, etc.
Thanks,
GSP

Had my battery replaced at one of their service centers (Alameda, CA) a while back.
$140.75 which included getting it shipped back to me.
They test the unit and send you a results printout, and the old batteries.
My unit is the PLB-300.
I just figure it's the price to play.

I have the ResQFix PLB 300 and it ended up costing $126 to have the battery replaced. The battery is the same as the one used in their MicroFix unit. I'm pretty sure you need to have a facility make the change to keep the unit active. I think the unit fails to register if it is past the expiration date.
The going rate out here in CA is $150. BTW the battery part # is 1100
