I am thinking of taking an EAA Avionics Course. One reason is the trend towards increasingly more complex stacks in planes. To have full travel flexibility to go where you want to go, ADSB-Out will probably become part of your panel. Here is an interesting article on a ADSB-Out install on an experimental.

The costs of Garmin certified GPS is certainly an eye opener. . Ugh... painful.



In a few years with all these new pending Federal Regs, I am sure one day I'll see Bob Barrows in his BearHawk with an all Garmin all Glass G1000 Panel. . 2020 is but 5 years away.

I don't currently have a plane, much less an experimental, but as I said I am thinking of taking the EAA avionics course, and was just curious re the state of Experimental ADSB-Out installations. I think an avionics shop along with the FAA has to review/okay the final ADSB-Out install ?? Not sure.

Nice article in the new Flying magazine about a portable ADS-B out box, $1500.00. I could live with that.
