Adventures of an Idaho Mountain Pilot

Adventures of an Idaho Mountain Pilot by Harold Dougal on Amazon.com

Good read about the early years of flying the Idaho Primitive Area.

A couple of years ago Harold gave me a BFR at the Nampa airport. He was interesting to talk with. I think he was about 83 years old then.

There are some great old pics in the book.

Not as it sits, but http://1dollarscan.com/ can get the job done (PDF) if you really want it that way. They take direct from amazon shipments.

I'm thinking of ordering this book though. Any additional reviews/comments on its content are appreciated.

I got a copy just the other day, and can't put it down. Its a great book. It has some very interesting stories about the early condition of the strips and the planes they flew in with.

I highly recommend it.

Good man. Good pilot. Good stories. The details are so accurate, he must have kept detailed logs and notes. When I recount experiences in my wife's hearing, she always points out to my audience changes from my last telling. She has a photostatic memory. Hard to polish war stories around her.

Re: Adventures of an Idaho Mountain Pilot

I have read it now, excellent! What made it especially interesting for me anyway was a lot of the stories concerned places I know well, not in the Frank so much but the rest of Idaho. I am hoping he makes it to the Garden Valley fly-in, I will be bringing the book for him to sign. A definite must have read. =D>
