Aeronca Down in WY Candy Drop--2 Dead

Between the charter and wedding crashes in Alaska and this candy drop crash in Wyoming yesterday, it has been an awfully tragic week. Add to that the twin that went down earlier this week in Wyoming (4 souls) and the two crashes in the Cascades, and it's getting downright depressing.

Condolences to all affected by these crashes. Be careful out there guys.

Very sad. Nobody is 100% 100% of the time. God Bless their souls for living large.

Wow, was just there. `Hard to fathom and don't want to guess what went wrong, maybe some kind of control jam from loose candy would be one thing that pops into my head.

I knew the pilot pretty well. I grew up in this area. He was a very good pilot that flew that plane 3-4 days a week. He was only 100-150 ft off the ground from what some friends said and they said he got really slow. Then turned and dropped like a rock. Probably a classic stall spin that wasn't recoverable that low. I wouldn't be surprised if he had his mind on something else and missed the airspeed. Been doing these candy drops since I was a kid. Not anymore! 2 of them for this weekend were cancelled. :(

Very sad indeed, I didn't know Bard, but knew Chad very well and will certainly miss him.
