Aerospace STEM middle school opening south of Denver (KAPA)

Greetings fellow BCP'ers,

In case you haven't seen this yet, a new STEM charter school based on aerospace is opening in south Denver. This will be located at (as in adjacent to runway 28) Centennial Airport/KAPA, next to the new Wings Exploration of Flight building.

This is a public charter, tuition free, and open to any 6th-8th grade student regardless of background or ability. The educational model is project-based and this group has significant ties to some big names in aerospace and aviation (e.g. most of the companies you've heard of, NASA, etc), so the things these kids will do are cutting edge in many ways.

I have been a proponent of this school for several months, and want to help spread the word.

If you have a kid with the right interest and even think you might want to enroll them, I encourage you to fill out an application now. This doesn't bind you to anything, or even affect other school choices - it just gets your name on the list, and will also help the school demonstrate the community interest necessary.

I've been talking to this group for a while and would like to spread the word. My kids are already asking when they can go, and this is going to be amazing for those that do. Please let me know if you have questions and I will do my best to answer them, or go find out.

Thanks for the information. I have a grandson near there. He is only eight, but might be interested in a few years. My son is part owner in a tech company there. PM me for his contact information. He might be good for some support now.

Pretty cool. Colorado's aerospace industry (especially space) has been booming for 10 years and looks like it's only increasing. I left my full time aerospace (space more than aero) job to fly, but have had enough engineering contracting on the side to actually make a living while i am a CFI. We couldn't find enough engineers in the local area to staff our programs at work at my last job - pretty incredible. I imagine the demand for starting them younger like this middle school is pretty high and I really like that it's tuition-free. Hopefully will get some more diversity in aerospace instead of just the kids whose parents can afford the good universities.
