Aircraft Naming

I just bought N9533A and I am trying to think of a clever name for her...

Does anyone still name aircraft?

Re: Aircraft Naming

I have long used the soft sweet name of 'Suzanne', Soft landing sweet smiling Suzanne.
She won't take you any where you don't already know how to go,
It comes from a Lenord Cohen song where only she can take you sweetly down by the water/river.
and effect your body with her mind. {Magic Lady}
Of course in Idehoe it will have to be down by the CRICK.

But then I did let a beautiful young lady by the name of Suzanne move of to France with her Grandmothers millions, while I did the responsible thing of staying with the kids.

That was when I wrote a short poem about her which she has never seen:

Oh, how long, and how alone-
The years will grow to be,
As my vision of her dies-
And my heart grows silent in me.

Often think of painting on a strawberry with a white #5 in the middle of it. Strawberry Five was the Catalina crew that went the extra mile and pushed it's assignment just long enough to find the Jap carriers for the battle of Midway which turned the course of the war in the pacific. I always appreciate those that go the extra measure.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

"Bird of Pray" (yes, it is spelled correctly.) Many interpretations for this name - all of them valid.

Re: Aircraft Naming

"Monkey Business" got her name one day when Tim asked me if I was going to name my new-to-me airplane. We loved collecting little stuffed monkeys, so that's what I called her, Monkey Business. There's usually a monkey on board now, too!

Baloney is still baloney, no matter how thin you slice it.

Jenny Gump?

Lets's see...

In Forrest Gump who:

Broke Forrest's heart over and over?

Treated him like shit time and time again?

Did Forrest always think about 24/7 no matter what?

And in the end who made his life worthwhile?

Jenny of course.

Sounds like most airplanes I've known and loved.

Maybe some think it is corny but we did. When she was brand knew and I first sat in the left seat "RUBY" came to mind. So, Ruby it is and now everybody who knows us knows who (what) Ruby is. She is a fun bird! :D

Re: Aircraft Naming

Had a racing airplane named "BooRay" once. Dual meanings... one is a high stakes Cajun card game and the other is a type of small bird that was very fast over a short distance. Both pretty appropriate for pylon racing IMHO.

But that name was given to it by the original builder... and it was considered pretty bad Karma to change the name by most people in the F-1 races. So I left it with that name and it never did kill me. Threatened me a couple of times, and gave me a pass one time when it clearly had every right to take me out of the gene pool.

I was going to name one of my racing gliders Bugs Bunny. I thought it would be a nice tribute, since that was who taught me how to deal with authority. A couple of older & wiser racers convinced me it might not be such a great idea to go around saying that, so I never put the name on.
