Avcon engine shock mounts for O-360 C172 mod on STC SA807CE
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
Dear All
I realise trying to get information on the Avcon 180/CS conversion out of the STC holder is next to (or actually) impossible.
Does anyone know if the correct shock mounts for this conversion are 4 off Lord J-3804-28?
Or better still, have a parts list or engine mod drawing for this STC.
My engineer tells me that later OEM Cessna 172s (Cutlass, 172R & S) specify two different sets of mounts arranged diagonally to compensate for the increased torque. The Avcon conversion uses a fabricated engine mount which I suspect already takes account of this??
My aeroplane flies slow with wildly different incidences on each wing (adjusted on the rear spar bushings) along with a drooped flap, and I wonder if this might be because some turkey has installed different shock mounts at the last engine overhaul and changed the thrust vector?
I have the drawing and parts list for the related STC SA806CE covering the C170 and early C172 fastbacks.
Thank you

I’ve got the STC SA807CE on my C172B. It calls for a 17201-1 engine mount for models B-H, and 4- J3804-28 Lord mounts.

Out of curiosity, what is slow? Mine flies at about 130 mph at 23" and 2300 rpm, with a Sportsman STOL and stock gear. At those settings I seem to burn a little more than ten gallons per hour. I didn't notice any reduction in speed with the installation of the STOL kit. Curious what others get for speed with this engine/prop.
