airplane hits tractor on runway

AIRCRAFT: RANS S7-S
INJURIES:NONE
LOCATION:OUTSIDE OF INKOM IDAHO
AIRCRAFT DAMAGE:NONE
TRACTOR DAMAGE: NOTHING JB WELD WON'T FIX

WHAT REPORTEDLY HAPPENED: The airstrip groundskeeper failed to remove the John Deere tractor sprinkler after irrigating the runway. The pilot failed to notice the obstruction due to an obstructed line of sight from the start of takeoff to mid field (200'). The pilot lifted off almost before striking the tractor, but made contact with the tailwheel but was able to continue the flight.

PROBABLE CAUSE: The pilot blames the groundskeeper, the groundskeeper blames the pilot, and no flight plan was filed. This investigation was terminated when it was discovered the groundskeeper and the pilot are the same person.

Looks like another obstruction at the end of the runway. I checked NOTAMs none on that one.

Re: airplane hits tractor on runway

Yeah, old Ted is giving me the "you dumb ass" look. I like the fact Swingle met him and not me, good to know Ted was keeping an eye on him while I was out working, nothing showed up missing! The tractor, to my surprise, as initially I thought it was a writeoff, will be placed back into service as soon as the JB fully cures. This sprinkler is perfect for my runway, I can adjust it just right for the width, and it looks pretty cool dragging the hose down the mountain, I like it so much I had already decided to run down to Lowes to get another, but no need. Yeah, somebody needs to be sued here, maybe the sprinkler company?

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process... :)
With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).

Re: airplane hits tractor on runway

John Deere has big pockets and Goodyear probably made the hose..maybe you could sue for enough to pave your runway and then you would not have to keep it watered.

It takes a pretty big kid to fly a plane thru a sprinkler :)

=D> That darn Tom can really create a great campfire tale..... =D> =D> =D> ..

The only thing I would have added would to have been introducing "crime sceen tape" and those little numbered flags that usually show where bullet casing fell to add that realistic look to the pic....... Altho the kool dog standing there is 'priceless'.. Keep this kind of stuff coming guys..... It puts smiles on my face..

Ben..

Ps... Hey Tom.. Breakfast in Alpine sometime this summer ??????

Sorry Zane,
Even called some dealers, it seems they can't pull the hose.
