"By KBCI Web Staff LOWMAN - Drivers heading to Lowman saw an interesting spectacle on the side of the road Wednesday.
Boise County dispatch says a pilot flying a single engine airplane was forced to land on the Banks-Lowman road after the plane's engine gave out.
The plane landed safely near milepost 29 by Deadwood. No injuries were reported. The pilot was the only one one board."

I saw this bird on Thurday while driving the Banks-Lowman Road. It is parked at the mouth of the Deadwood River, on the west side of the river. I would say it is amazing that the pilot pulled this off with only minor damage to the right wingtip. There is a power line that follows the road and crosses it every several hundred yards or so, and then there are no straight stretches to speak of. Milepost 29 comes out at a point about 7/10 of a mile downstream from where this bird is parked. Look it up on Google Earth (44-04-02, 115-39-31) not much room to land- especially having to deal with the power line-that may be impossible to see!
This airplane is out of Boise. Maybe some of the members from that area can find out exactly where he landed and relay the full story.
I was a passenger in a 172 that developed carb ice and landed on the highway near Island Park. Whole different story there as the road was straight and wide and no power lines to deal with.
