Brent,
That sounds like a fun trip. The best advice I can give you is to try and get the person you're meeting to bring all your camping gear, food, booze, waders, etc., even if that means mailing it to him in advance. Fly over with nothing but survival gear and a toothbrush and you'll be in MUCH better shape. I guess I'm assuming you'll be landing at a smaller strip. If you're landing at a large established airport, it's not as big a deal.
My numbers are just rough estimates, but at that altitude your engine will only be producing around 120hp at redline...much less during take off. Going light is probably your best insurance. Maybe you can plan it so you land and depart with minimal fuel, then gas up at a larger, lower airfield a short time after take off.
Density altitude is another factor which you might not deal with a lot on the Oregon coast. It probably will be a factor near the Park. Landing and taking off as early in the AM as possible will do a lot towards keeping the DA to a minimum.
There is a lot of info out there...the Mountain Flying Bible has some good numbers, but nothing will really make it clear until you experience the joys of using up 4500 feet of runway just to claw weakly into the air.
