Airspeed indicator not working right
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
I've been having airspeed indicator problems recently. Earlier in the year I went flying and found the airspeed inop...found water in the static line. A little while later I flew through a rain storm but had no issues with the airspeed during that flight. The next time i went up it wasn't working again. I found water in the static line again but even after cleaning it out the airspeed indicated about 5 mph high. Something on the static side plugged...right? Any ideas? Time for a new ASI?

Cracked or broken line from inlet to gauge? Had kinda the same problem once on the 170...replaced the whole line. There was a check you can do on the indicator but the proceedure for your plane may be different than mine...ask your IA.

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.
I had that problem in my 172 a few years ago, it turned out to be a cracked line from the pitot tube to the gauge, it appeared to have been cracked when it was installed at the factory in 1956. after I replaced the line I got 5 mph faster readings on the gauge as well. I also installed a low-point-sump in the line when i repaired it.
