George, I've always been fascinated by the Wilga. Could you tell me about it?

Re: AK Bushwheel Tire ?

George,
35's without a doubt. That thing loves angle of attack I assume, and the 35's will help with that. Plus, the 35's really are an amazing tire, not that the 31's aren't, but I noticed a big difference in performance going from 31's to 35's, although everyones definition of performance is different I suppose!

Yep, gottem here, will be working on it for a couple of weeks, I think it is pretty much RnR

I just need a 35" on a wheel to see about the clearance before I pull the trigger on a set!!
I think my Schneider's are to wide!!

Re: AK Bushwheel Tire ?

If you land primarily on pavement, bushwheels are a waste of money. The 26" goodyears are a great tire for any surface. I love how many pilots think bigger tires will make them better pilots..... I know some Ol' time Alaskan bush pilots that have never flown with the AK bushwheel and have been into places most pilots can only dream of. I'd also caution buying used tires no matter what type they are or how cheap they are.

Thanks, I have used the 26" tires and been stuck with them many times!! (Sand and Mud)
The Wilga does not spend any time @ paved runways, nor do most of my birds, Heck the 210 spends more time on gravel than pavement, the only time it hit the pavement in the last 2 years was in Fairbanks  ??
Ya I'm Old, and have a lot of AK time, I am not going to get any better than I am
I'm not just going for usability, been there done that! I'm tryin to get a bit more AOA and want it to have the biggest balls I can get for it! Wonder if I can find some of those the truckers tie on?? [-X

George, you're my hero. That thing will look awesome with ABW's.

On the balls comment, I had a Dalmatian that weighed 92 pounds with a set about that color, no STC, they came on his TCDS.

Re: AK Bushwheel Tire ?

I think I'd go with the 26's on my Wilga because my home field is paved. They're a hellofalot bigger than what's on there now.

Ok the 26's would be a bad choice as they will wear faster, less rubber etc.

To which 26's are these comments referring? Goodyear or ABW ?
