Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Got out a bit today to check on a few of the local forest service cabins with a friend. Beautiful weather and calm winds

Soon! I usually fly over and check out your place but I was having to much fun flying the river at 600 feet so I missed it this time.

Re: Ak Logan Pictureventure

After wrecking pretty bad at alyeska I missed out on some really good flying weather at the beginning of the week. Well feeling better I got up today to burn some fuel.

Nice! I hope the weather is good when I get off the slope. Last time I was home it wasn't real good the whole time... Enjoy it!

Re: Ak Logan Pictureventure

Didn't get the chance to fly today, but received an awesome text about an hour and a half before work today. It read, "2 F22 at Kenai, 3:45" so i grabbed my camera and headed over there to get a good spot. They only shot one approach, really wish they did another as i used one of my longer but a kit lens to shoot. Terribly slow focus so i think i missed a few good shots but i did manage to get a few.
Image
Image
It was about the time i heard the shutter click that i realized i had made a horrible decision. As you can tell from the picture they are not very high, and they have had about 1/2-3/4 of a mile to get the turbines spooled up. By the time they crossed the fence, which I was standing right at right off the end of the runway. I can only guess they were well in to the triple digits, My right ear is still not the same. So loud, Between them being so low, My slow focusing lens, the ungodly loud noise, the confused look I must have had on my face would have been priceless.
Image
Away they go.

Re: Ak Logan Pictureventure

I think it was in 2014 at the Eugene, OR airport they had three F-16's from Oklahoma show-up for the airports airshow.
When the 16's did their startup before departing where I and everyone else there was standing is maybe 100 yards from the jets. Well I wish I had remembered that I had ear plugs in my camera case. #-o [-X

Re: Ak Logan Pictureventure

Been a while but havnt been flying as much as I usually do. So this weekend a coworker and I headed north to doing some scouting for an upcoming caribou hunt. So we departed soldotna direct for talkeetna. Image

Once across cook I let we headed to the north and up the susitna river not much to see other then lots of tundra. Flew over beluga to give a wig wag to a friend working.
Image

Next stop talkeetna for some fuel and food. Then as were getting ready to depart 3 otters and a 185 pretty cool watching 3 otters in a row depart. Image

After that it's off to the mountains we go. Pretty cool waterfall pictures do not do it justice but it is huge. Image

Some once we landed the fog rolled in.
Image
Image
Finally we took a bit of a nap and woke up to a few holes in the fog that gave us the chance to head home.
ImageImage

Once down to the river valley the weather got much better. Only to deteriorate even more so as we got closer to town. But we made it got down called for a briefing for talkeetna back to soldotna and away we went.
