Alaska bound from NE Washington May 31

Hello all!
Finally got this new yellow pacer in good enough shape to take it North to Nulato AK.
Will be leaving 63S early on Tuesday Morning.
Will have the Spot turned on, hoping to make Scoop Lake the first night, it is just south of Watson Lake a ways.
Anybody headed that direction on Tuesday, or maybe along the way?
Will probably cut the corner and head to White Horse then Beaver Creek and on to Northway??
I have to spend a couple of days in Anchorage before I head out to Nulato, Lokking forward to seeing some old friends and hope to meet some new !
I have made a deal with a guy from down here to pick his 170b with a Franklin in it sometime this summer and when I head south I'll bring it home with me, he just gets to keep it in my hangar for awhile. Tough I know but someone has to do it!.

GT, I'm in Whitehorse so drop me a line the day before your hit Whitehorse...that way I can hook you up with the cheap fuel (20 cent cheaper anyways than the field price) and a Tundra ride. Cheers, BCT

Re: Alaska bound from NE Washington May 31

Hi All
Took the long way to get to Kamloops to clear customs, and that took an hour as I was a training session for the new guy!?!? Had no problems and they were very nice and professional, just took awhile.
Had a quick hello with FFlyer and That pretty girl that lets him hang out with her, and Raven, had a chance to run to the burger joint and grab a bite!
Got into Watson Lake this evening as smoke was thick today, stayed at Scoop Lake last night, Darwin and Wendy at are wonderful people so had a great day!! They have extra fuel so bought 5 gallons for $74 bucks but was well worth it as I had plenty to get here.
having to wait on a cold front to finish moving thru this evening son will try and to head to White Horse later about 7 pm.
Damn Verizon phone doesn't work in the Yukon so will just have to email everyone?
Having fun

Eh George, great to see ya and the hound tonight and hope more BCP members will stop by! Thanks for sharing the stories and hope you have a great flight tomorrow. I google earthed Nulato, AK, looks very very similar to where I used to live in Fort Providence, Northwest Territories. Akflyer lives in North Pole, maybe you guys will meet up on your way up.

keep up posted on this fantastic flight,

Cheers, BCT

Re: Alaska bound from NE Washington May 31

I just checked your spot link. It works, but sure looked funny. It had you going all over the place with no underlying map information. So, being the bright boy my momma always told people I was, I scrolled out only to find your position reports were all within 10' of each other on the ramp at Whitehorse.

Odd, I've not had a single problem with it. Though it looks like you left it on all night after you got to Whitehorse.

Re: Alaska bound from NE Washington May 31

Made it to Tok, sitting in Fast Eddies having lunch,40 Mile Air for gas, had 10 gallons left after flying the hiway from Whit Horse.
Called the Boss and am going to land in front of his place about 40 miles west of here.
Probably stay here for a day or 2'
Might not have to go to Anchorage after all, gusting to 35 over there in places right now.
Can just run up to Fairbanks and then head west.
Will shut the spot off this afternoon so will not be spotting all night?!?!
Beautiful Ride staying low most of the time, Lots of BEAR AND Moose, saw 3 new calves today in the Yukon!
Have fun
Nice trip, a little weather but no rush so just enjoying it as it comes.

The wind is blowing here in North Pole, and Fairbanks. It is holding the smoke down so vis. is greater then 10 miles. Delta winds are gusting to 35.

Re: Alaska bound from NE Washington May 31

Made it to FAI Saturday, Left my IPAD in TOK?!?!?! #-o
Victor got to see his new toy as he was in town!
Stayed the night and did a little shopping,
On to Nulato on Sunday.
Got the computer and internet working this evening.
Good Trip, Long and Slow, Not the best weather, Smoke, Rain, Snow, Low Vis.
Had a great time, sore butt and all, Had lots of time to think??
Piper made them for a smaller person than I, Head kept hitting the ceiling??
Have been in the Seneca or the Amphib for last year and a 1/2 with just a couple of hours in the 195!
Had to learn how to fly an airplane again!!
How do you guys do it with out a constant speed prop and fuel injection??
RPM all over the place and then carb Ice when ever you see a cloud on the horizon?
I will have to practice up on that 170B before I head south this fall!
Going to make it over to Unakleeeeetttttttttttttttt for some of that cheap fuel and a pizza soon!
On the ground for a while
My dog sure doesn't like getting in an airplane since I landed that amphib to hard, have to put him in every time, he used to jump in and actually like to fly. He shakes for about an hour before he settles down! Maybe he's smarter than I am?? #-o
