Alaska Floatplane Flying DVD-Nice product

Hi All. Just thought I would post a comment about a good DVD I just purchased. "Alaska Floatplane Flying", "Volume 1 The Mists of Ketchikan".

I found it to be a very well done video. Great footage of inflight, T/O's and Landings, and the impressive scenery around Ketchican.

For a frustrated L.A. area flyer it is GREAT! Can anyone recommend a nice "Backcountry" destination that makes a good day trip from L.A.? I have some idea's, but would like to hear from those with a little more "experience".

My first post here, sorry if this DVD has been reviewed before.

Dav, where do you fly outa? Seems like Aqua Dulce airpark would be the closest airport to Canyon Country. I grew up in SW LA (Gardena area), but didn't get into aviation until I moved to the northwest. So I'm not familiar with any good places down there except by word of mouth & looking at charts. There has been some discussion here in the past about backcountry strips in the lower eastern Sierra's (Kennedy Meadows, etc), plus I believe there's a couple private strips south of Lake Isabella (Kelso Valley, Bird Springs area). I would think that there's bound to be some kinda cool airstrips out along the edge(s) of the Mojave- maybe fly out to Apple valley or somewhere like that & ask around.
If you know of any good ones, lets hear about them. :?:

Sorry for the delayed answer Pico, I have been "out and about" for a few weeks. I ordered it online from Strangebirds.com They have a good selection of Seaplane, tailwheel, and "bush flying" style products.

Eric, Ihave used Agua Dulce several times. I fly out of Whiteman right now. For anyone who hasnt been there, or its been several years, Agua Dulce has been "remodeled" so to speak. Nice field, parking, restraunt and lounge.
