Four days of rain has knocked them down a lot. Wrights has been in and out from FAI in the past couple days when the rain would let up. They went right by a couple burns, and reported things looked ok.

My mechanic/IA and I are thinking about hauling the quads and meat trailer from Anchorage to northeast of FBX for moose in Sept. But no definite plans made yet.

Re: Alaska hunting season

If any of you were archery hunting and willing to take a mainlander along, I'd love to hunt Alaska. I'm from Michigan, so a born and bred whitetail hunter, but I became addicted to elk hunting in the late 90's. I truly enjoy calling/spot & stalk hunting in the mountains far more than tree stand hunting for deer, although that's still fun too. All of my mountain hunts have been DYI and that's what I enjoy, weather I come home with a full freezer or not. Alaska moose, sheep of any variety, and mountain goat are on my bucket list. I know there's reason for requiring guides for sheep, and goat hunts up there, but it drives the price up so high for us out of staters that I may never get the chance to do it. I cant think of much that would top combining backcountry flying with Alaskan hunting. Maybe spring heli skiing and king salmon fishing would be close. Alaska sure offers some unbelievable outdoor opportunities.

Ak Grouch, keep me posted on what your planes are. Where I would like to go is North. Two planes flying together and hunting together would be nice.

That's good news. My understanding was Moose and Caribou were the only big game species you could hunt without a guide as a non-resident.

I seem to recall reading an interesting article in one of the flying mags and recognizing pictures of your 170 in the article. Is that recollection correct?

If I'm in Stevens Village, would be interested in catch up with you for a couple of days., Not real interested in tipping over Bullwinkle, but getting out would be great.
If I'm in Nulato, I can't get much closer to a Bullwinkle than there. You might have to come down river.
I'm sure I can get this old 210 in where you take your Stinson, but would probably need some one else to fly it out??
I know someone one I can bum a boat and a kicker from for about 2 months while I'm there??
I'm supposed to be out of Marshall by 8th of July.
