Alaska pilots: flying into PANC/Z41?

Need some advice from our southcentral folks...

I need to fly into Anchorage a couple times in upcoming weeks. Usually I fly into Merrill but this time I'd like to go into the Lake Hood / ANC area and leave my plane parked a couple days. I'm up on the procedures in the supplement but which affords the most convenient transient parking situation for an out of town pilot, Lake Hood strip or International? If you land at International do they taxi you across to the ramps near Lake Hood anyway?

One of the flights will be for the Aviation Trade Show in May.

you'll want to go into the lk hood strip.
there are only a few transient spots available, and they will fill up fast around the trade show.
it would be best to find someone who rents a spot there, but doesn't use it very much, and befriend them :D
not sure if you can rent a spot for a week, or if you would have to buy a month just to use it once :?
someone will chime in, i'm sure.
if not, i'll ask around for you.

There was transient parking on Charlie ramp, on International, but that, I believe is now gone. They were supposed to have opened a new transient parking area over to the north, though.

Call Andy Hutzel, the manager of Lake Hood. I'd land on Lake Hood strip. From there, you can taxi to ANC if need be.

MRL is a pain, in my opinion.

Don't know about ANC, but I believe there are exactly FOUR transient spots at Z41 near the gas pumps. Believe you are allowed 72 hours max without moving, although I never saw them put a Denver boot on anybody's plane. Lucky you don't want a slip!! You are not young enough wait for one of those.

Of course, that's the "official" position. Buddies can help out if you know someone there. Maybe it's a good time to schedule some convenient maintenance....park it at the FBO. They're always 3 days late finishing anyway.

I found the picture changes a lot in the summer when almost everybody puts their planes on floats and some tiedowns become temporarily available at the strip. Much neater venue than Merrill IMO.

I'm lost
but I'm not afraid

Thanks all- I guess I'll call the managers. The Alaska Airmen office staff were somewhat helpful too.
