Alpine this weekend

Hey guys
I am gonna fly my Lancair from MN to Alpine WY Friday afterwork for a quick weekend getaway. I hope to drool at the homes on Alpine and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on things I should check out? I have access to a car and am bringing my camping gear. Any fishing within reasonable distance to Alpine, Restaurants, or other sights I should check out? I plan on bringing my fly gear.

Thanks
Blake

Takeoff for Afton, about halfway there, on the left, about 700' above the valley floor and set back from the highway a mile or so, sits a castle on its own hilltop, that has to be seen to believed. That is the place you want to buy  At the north end of the Afton strip, use the radio controlled gate to get close to the cafe across the road, you'll walk right by the Husky factory, another possible point of interest. In 2 more weekends they (Alpine) are having a big car show, should be some good things to see there.

Alpine has a cool airpark and cheap fuel, there's even a little known instrument procedure to get out on a foggy day. The Aviat factory mentioned in Afton is worth seeing and so is the Smoky Mountain Mine just 20 miles away. Rulon Gardner parlayed his 5 minutes of olympic fame into a decent burger joint by the airport where you can get your picture on the wall of shame if you can eat the 1 pound burger. The Smoky Mtn. mine is big on PR, they'll give you a tour and let you crawl around on all the big equipment. Star Valley Cheese factory is good eating if you like cheese. Of course there's Palisades lake, fishing the Greys river, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone Park, Whitewater rafting on the snake.

And climbing the Grand, flying to Yellowstone and using the loaner bikes to get into town to the IMAX theatre, where you can see the movie YELLOWSTONE, which is largely aerial photography #-o ), Hailey is a pretty short zip in your bird, catch a ride to Sun Valley and ride the tram up the mountain or take a sailplane ride, and as long as you are that close be the first to land a Lancair at JC?! For a total change of pace contact the very professional outfit in Jackson that gives tandem hang glider rides, after towing up with an ultralight towplane, right at Alpine. Lots of other fun places but landing your bird at them may be problematic  Lots to do in Jackson of course, you gotta check out the world famous Cowboy Bar, where the bar stools are saddles!
