Alternative spinner for McCauley prop
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
Hey, calling all experienced with propellers:
I almost fell off my chair on hearing the new (factory specified) spinner & back plate for my prop was going to cost 4 grand. NO WAY I am going down that path for a homebuilt unless I have no choice.
Can anyone who's seen a few tell me, would it be hard to make a Hartzell, MT, (or other) spinner and back plate fit around a McCauley 2-blade CS prop with the Lycoming engine bolt pattern?
I think the Hartzell one at least is very very similar in dimensions, and the bolt pattern for the backer should be the same, -although I think some will actually mount to the hub itself rather than between the flange and the hub. Any ideas??

Ok I think I have found something that will work - does anyone have a photo of the back of a C235 McCauley hub they could post? Or if you know what the McCauley -7266 back plate is meant to look like?
That would be endlessly helpful for me, my prop is still a week or two away from arriving and I need to see if the fit would be right. I can post a photo of the spinner to compare.
