Been there before. It is wet or dry depending on when the last rainfall has been. I never land on a dry lake unless I see car and preferably motorcycle tracks cus that tells me that it will hold me up on top of the lake bed.

Talked with a local rancher down the this morning. He said that it was dry by the hot springs, and they have not had much rain.
A good low pass would be a prudent thing to do just to check.
Enjoy the water.

And watch out for the rusted out fenceline that extends east from and in line with the trail from cabin to lake.

I've been there quite a few times. Some guys land on the road and park their plane in the wide gravel spot near the springs. Just don't try to go through the cattle guard or you might leave your wings behind.
The springs itself wets a fairly large area on the edge of the playa. You don't want to land there. Tire tracks are a good indicator as mentioned before. Usually dry lakebed is much lighter than wet, but the surface dries out first, making this a little uncertain.
The playa south of the springs dries out first. You can see folks camped along the edge. This area will require more of a walk.

Anyone know what the conditions are like on the playa now? I'd bet they are wet but I thought I would ask. My wife asked if I would take her there for the three day weekend coming up. I figure if the conditions are good enough I might let her make me take her there

Bub and northern NV guys? Seems like with all our recent storms, that it might be blanketed in snow.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Whoa Buddy! Talked to Pete Friday, he lives and works down that way. Anyway better have your skis on as the whole thing is white with snow.
Course you could land on the road? Whee, if you head this way give a shout. I live on the perimeter of BNO, so I'm close.
See ya, Bub

That's what I figured. I doubt I'll head over there but if I do I'll let you know Bub.
