The first one I saw in person was Clay Lacy's when it was on the ramp in McCall ID back in the 90's. He was hitting backcountry strips with his friends.

Greg,

What's more fun to watch is someone who's handy with a Twin Otter work one into a tight dock on floats, or a Twin Otter just working off airport. Amazing machines.

I agree with Mike, the Twin Otter is an amazing airplane as is the Porter. I have flown the Twin Otter all over Alaska summer and winter and I have to say, if I won the powerball a Twin Otter would be on my shopping list!

If that plane doesn't make you want to be a bush pilot, nothing will.

Absolutely...the Pilatus always made me smile every time I flew it:

Great short field machine too. Couple of hundred feet and you're stopped safely. Departing the short field, however, does require some additional equipment :)

This is the video I like; over the hangar and land in the grass next to the ramp, and 10 people get out of it

Re: Always Makes Me Smile... Pilatus.

Excellent vid DR, good music too! Oddly enough I sold a used car today to a guy who, as I drove up in my crane with the cartoon of my plane displayed on the rear, asked if I was a pilot. Answering in the affirmative, he responded with " so am I, I fly a a Pilatus PC-12 ( medical transport). An equealy cool plane, in its own way as the 6. We were still dickering, but once we both started talking flying, I knew the car was sold =D> 318,000,000 people in the US, 618,000 pilot certs, what are the odds!?
